Two Point Museum – What will we see?

Earlier in the week Two Point Studios announced Two Point Museum. The third title in their Two Point universe. The previous games being the fantastic Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus.

I’ve written plenty about Two Point and my love for the old Bullfrog games like Them Park and Theme Hospital.

There’s something about the silliness, mixed with the clever game design and mechanics that just scratches itches for me. Micro management, watching your little microcosm develop and grow. It’s best-in-class in terms of execution and delivery.

Speculation was growing as folk had started to realise it had been a year since the last Two Point Campus DLC. A year is a long time if you’re not in active game development…..

Two Point Studios were/are! And it’s Two Point Museum up next.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really sure what direction they’d take next, but Museum wasn’t even in my head.

Yet, it makes so much sense on so many levels. It’s almost so obvious! Taking all they’ve learned from the development and creation of Hospital and Campus, Museum is doubtless going to be the best yet.

Here’s a few thoughts and ideas of what we’d like to see, or perhaps what we’ve taken from the trailer and started to speculate on!

Get pricey

I actually had a dev reply to me on Reddit about this one. It feels so natural to go old school and approach it like Theme Park.

Cost for entry, concessions and souvenirs. Perhaps even other things?

Waiting for customer feedback is a modern touch that nicely fits into the game and honestly, if there’s a focus on income/finance like there always is, you need to control those revenue streams as best you can.

Are we looking at going for funding and donations from external sources, too? Can we apply for grants or pander to donators?

School trips?

So we’ve seen kids in the trailer, certainly doing harm to exhibits. Now, what if, like a University inspector in Campus, or an epidemic in Hospital, we had events like School Trips that meant you needed to get the site ready to handle the extra traffic?

Perhaps staff-up to handle the aftermath?

It might not even be school trips, but other big visits and events. It just seems like a natural fit, and something I bet Two Point could turn into something quite fun.

Benefit of your experience

In both Two Point Hospital and Campus, you do your level, get to 3 stars and the move on to a new challenge. I like the approach, truly. It feels like you’re moving to a new job and getting a fresh start. I think it works.

But, what if they mixed this up a little? Perhaps letting you kind of become the manager of a several, so you can share exhibits, focus what you deliver in multiple museums? It might be a bit far fetched, but seeing some links back to your previous work would be quite nice I think.

Types of exhibit

As Two Point have mentioned, they focused purely on the dinosaur aspect of the game in the initial trailer. But…..they’ve literally just released a deep-dive on marine life exhibits, too.

This adds a very different dimension to the game already.

Feeding, breeding, housing etc. Suddenly you don’t just have static exhibits. You have living ones and that’s more work.

Suspect we’ll need specialist staff just to keep everything running! Or maybe the classic janitor?

Damn, this has gotten exciting!

Two Point Museum - Overview

Release date

“Coming Soon” is all we have to work with, and whilst I hate not knowing. I love the mystery and I’m happy to wait for another gem.

Two Point Museum is coming in following a hot streak of two excellent games. I don’t think anyone should be worried, though. Two Point Studios are the masters of the genre, and know exactly what they’re doing.

I’m really hopeful that it’s the best yet. I do feel the focus on an attraction space this time around is something that appeals to me slightly more. So it’s got potential to be my favourite in the series, for sure.

As soon as we hear any more, we’ll let you know!
